Emerald City Equestrian Team
The newly formed Emerald City Equestrian Team is named for Syracuse, New York's recent designation as the Emerald City. Because of Syracuse's focus on green energy and renewable resources, green has become the color of designation of the region.
ECET was started in 2010 by coaches Meg Maloney, Kim Allan and Sara Paddock. We offer a welcoming environment focused on fun, teamwork and proper horsemanship. The team holds monthly practices out of Affinity Farm in Skaneateles, NY, occasionally supplementing with practices at Cazenovia Equestrian Center in Cazenovia, NY. We welcome riders from any school or stable.
The team competes in Zone II IEA hunt seat competitions throughout the school year, giving all team members the chance to grow as riders. Space is available for riders in grades 6 through 12. Prior show experience is not a requirement to join the team. Riders do not need to own their own horse to join.
The 2010-2011 team had 9 team members qualify for Zone Finals as individiuals and two riders compete at National Finals.
The 2011-2012 had 13 team members compete at Regional Finals, 11 team members compete at Zone Finals and one rider compete at National Finals.
The 2012-2013 team had 13 team members compete at Regional Finals and was the Zone Champion High School Team and the Zone Reserve Champion Middle School Team. The team will have 8 riders represent the team as the National Finals.
